Irish Mushroom Burger – The Car Wreck

Well it’s finally warming up in Chicago with only a few chances of snow still going into mid April.  I was a little too lazy to break out the charcoal but the warm weather gave me enough motivation to get the little Coleman gas grill going. (Coleman 9949-750 Road Trip Grill LXE)

Below is a recipe I just whipped up with whatever I had in stock.

It’s an Irish burger because you guessed it…it has Gourmet Irish Hot Sauce on it as a condiment. ( McCoy’s THIS – Thick Hot Irish Sauce – 8oz Hot )

The Car Wreck title comes from the following events.  I text-ed the attached image to my Step Dad’s phone and of course he didn’t have his glasses on. He yells to my mother in the other room “Come look at this, I can’t find my glasses I think it’s a picture of a Car Wreck!”

I’m not sure if that’s good or bad but funny at the very least.

Cayenne pepper powder
Garlic Powder
Sesame Hamburger Buns
Hamburger Patties ( your choice )
Thin Sharp Cheddar Cheese
McCoy’s THIS

Melt some butter in a bowl via the microwave. Stir in 1 tsp of garlic powder. Stir in 1 tsp of Cayenne powder. Stir.

Brush the butter mixture on to each side of the hamburger buns.

Saute mushrooms in small frying pan until small and tan.

Grill the burgers to your liking.

Place the buttered buns on the grill until they are crispy. Then remove and put on a plate.

Pile your mushrooms on the burgers and lay a few layers of the sharp cheddar cheese over the mushrooms to contain them. Close the lid so it melts.

Place the finished burger on your buns and apply a generous portion of McCoy Thick Hot Irish Sauce to top it off!

I will admit I also made a version with a BBQ Sauce prototype we are working on. It taste equally as good.

Good luck!
